| Vernie Jones Allen, 87, died April 27, 2012 at White Oak Manor in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County she was the daughter of the late Fred and Martha Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Herman Allen and sisters, Ramath Allison, Daisy Bland, Floree Branch, Edna Allen, Beatrice Batchelor, Louise Bailey. Mrs. Allen was a member of Zoar Baptist Church where she was in the Ruth Sunday School class. She retired from Hoechst Celanese as a production operator.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughter, Kaye Allen Upton and husband Jim of Shelby; son, Roland Allen and wife Ellen of Shelby; sister, Inna Mae McCraw of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Angela McKee and husband Steve of Grover, NC, Kelly Upton and wife Stephanie of Tega Cay, SC, Emily Leeder and husband Glenn of Roswell, GA, Bryan Allen and wife Heather of Huntersville, NC; great grandchildren, Mariah McKee, Marcus McKee, Austin McKee, Spencer Upton, Carter Vincent, Elizabeth Leeder, Evelyn Leeder, Charlotte Allen, Wade Allen, Hannah Allen.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Cleveland Memorial Park. Dr. Rob Helton will be officiating. The family will gather around the graveside for visitation after the service.
