Vernie Mae Emory Robbins Whitener

Vernie Mae Emory Robbins Whitener, 93 of 1404 N. Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.

She was born on March 13, 1920, in Cleveland County, NC, to the late Burton Emory and Ellie Swink Emory.  She was retired from Doran Textiles and was a member of Union Baptist Church.  Mrs. Whitener enjoyed flowers, gardening and crocheting.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilbur Robbins and Grady Whitener; son, Jerry W. Robbins; daughter, Ann R. Lattimore and two sisters, Mary Crean and Bea Bialecki.

Survivors include daughter-in-law, Sonja Robbins of Polkville; grandsons, Randy Robbins and wife, Jessica of Polkville and Tony Robbins of Polkville and great-grandsons, Reed, Jaxson, Taylor, Dylan and Nick Robbins.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home.

Funeral Service:  2:00 PM, Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel.
