Mrs. Vernie Sweezy Philbeck, 84, of 931 Airport Road, Shelby, NC passed away Friday, October 15, 2010. Services were held at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Philbeck was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Ray Philbeck; her parents, Franklin Curtis and Sophie Lula Poole Sweezy; 1 son, Dennis Ray Philbeck; 1 grandson, Josh Philbeck; and 2 brothers, McCellan Sweezy and Ward Sweezy.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Connie Hayes and husband J.T., Janice Greene and husband Ed, and Sylvia and Ray Johnson, all of Shelby, and Diane Spangler and husband Jack of Belwood; 2 brothers, F.C. Sweezy and Gerald Sweezy, both of Shelby; 4 sisters, Ruth McSwain of Lattimore, Lois Edwards of Charlotte, Doris Werling of Shelby, and Brenda Carter of Salisbury; 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Harris and Martha Sasser, both of Columbia, SC; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Donor’s Choice.
