Virgie Beatrice Leagan Hambright
Blacksburg -- Virgie Beatrice Leagan Hambright, 91, of 556 Leagan Drive, Blacksburg, passed away Wednesday, December 12th, 2012 at her residence.
 
Born in Blacksburg, Mrs. Hambright was the widow of Jefferson Davis Hambright and the daughter of the late Ceafie McKinley Leagan and Leila Mae Bolton Leagan.  She worked in textiles. She was an accomplished seamstress and  was a lunchroom worker at Cherokee Falls School. She was the oldest member of Nazareth Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She was Cherokee County Mother of the Year in 1978.
 
Mrs. Hambright is survived by two sons, Wayne E. Hambright of Frankford, KY. and Keith L. Hambright of Antioch, CA; three daughters, Eloise H. McDaniel, Nancy H. Allison, and Janice H. Bolin, all of Blacksburg; three brothers, Johnny Leagan, Willie Ray (Pete) Leagan, and C. M. Leagan, Jr., all of Blacksburg; four sisters, Evelyene Blackwell of Cherokee Falls, Elizabeth Isler and Lou Ella Ricker of Blacksburg, and Leona Goodson of Gaffney; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Theodore (Teddy) Hambright; grandson Johnny Randall Allison; brother Charlie Leagan; and two sisters, Viola Leagan and Libby Ann Leagan. Special thanks to caregivers Mychelle Seals, Margaret Camp, Pat Hull, and Kayla Martin.
 
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 15th, 2012 from 6:00-8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary.  Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 2:00pm   at Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jamie Billings, Rev. Joseph Clayton, and Rev. Jerry Ford officiating.  Entombment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Allison, Chris McDaniel, Scott Allison, Kevin Bolin, Greg Bolin, Dave Hambright, Marcus Hambright, and Eric Hambright.
