Blacksburg - Virginia Bright Ray, 90, of Cherokee Falls Road, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018.

Born in Gaffney, Virginia was the widow of Cecil Lee Ray and the daughter of Parl Moroni Bright and Callie Breeden Bright. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and loved cooking, her friends, and sharing poetry.

She is survived by one son, David Ray and wife, Kimberly, of Blacksburg; one daughter, Carol Owenby and husband, Gary, of Zirconia, NC; one grandson, Shane Owenby and wife, Victoria, of Seattle, WA; one sister, Minnie Mae Hensley of Simpsonville, SC; two great-grandchildren, Kellar Nathan and Jessica Jade Owenby, both of Seattle, WA.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Nephi, Nathanel, Morgan, Marvin, Hobert, and Lawrence Bright and her sisters, Edith Clary, Audrey Powell, and Verla Bright.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 at Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Mr. Arthur Hampton officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Ralph Bright, Todd Hensley, Mike Borders, Charlie Varner, Brett Hensley, and Butch Hensley will serve as pallbearers.
