Blacksburg -- Walter Franklin Varner, 76, of 118 West Bells Branch Road, passed away Thursday, October 15th, 2015, at Kings Mountain Hospital.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Frank Varner and Inez West Varner. Mr. Varner retired from lawn care and was a member of Little Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivng Mr. Varner are six brothers, Marshall, Winfred, James, Charlie, Wilbur and David Varner, all of Blacksburg, and a sister, Etheleen Varner, of Blacksburg.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Varner was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl, Ervin, Fred, Luther, and Algie Varner, and a sister, Ferleen Varner.

Due to his brother, Winford, passing away on Friday, joint graveside services for Walter and Winford will be held Monday, October 19, 2015, at 11:00 am in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Norman Philbeck officiating.

The family will be at their respective homes.
