Walter Joseph "Joey" Hanson, age 55, also fondly known as "Bigfoot" and "Tiny", passed away at 11:35 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. He was born in Frankfort, Germany on November 27, 1960. His wife, Carol, was the love of his life as he was the love of Carol's. They were inseparable and always together in love for over twenty-eight years. His greatest joy was the time and life they shared and spent together all the years of marriage.
Surviving are his children, Laurie K. Dobbins and fiancé, Brandon Ramquist of Gastonia and Doug Dobbins and wife, Tracy of South Carolina; two granddaughters, Ashland and Camryn Dobbins; one brother, Mike Hanson and wife, Angie of Ellenboro; sister, Sandi Ruppe and husband, Junior also of Ellenboro. He was also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Walter Joseph Hanson II; father, Jack Hanson; brother, Jeff Hanson and his mother, Dorothy Wise Hanson.
A day of celebration of Joey's life was held at their home with family, friends and neighbors. He loved his Lord and Savior and was a Christian. He is now in Heaven with the Lord forevermore.
