Walter “Lee” Roe Jr., 74, resident of Shelby and formerly of Charlotte, passed away Feb. 19, 2014, at Hospice House in Kings Mountain.
Lee was a member of Calvary Church in Charlotte, and a member of the Charlotte Coin Club. He was also a retired self-employed house painter and enjoyed sports collectible sales. Lee truly lived his Christian faith. He had many friends who came to him for comfort and advice. Lee’s pastor once said that Lee had a heart as big as all outdoors, and he was well known for his great hugs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee Roe Sr. and Mary Frances Prewitt Roe.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Heaven Roe of the home; son, Thomas Lee Roe of New Hill; sister-in-law Carol and husband Lamar Wilson of Shelby; and nephew Ian Wilson and wife Kelli and family of Fuquay-Varina.
Visitation: The family will greet friends after the service.
Graveside service: 3 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Cemetery
