Wayne Froneberger
Wayne Froneberger, 83, of Cherryville, died Wednesday Nov. 13, 2013 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House. He was born in Gaston Co. on October 8, 1930, a son of the late Jonas Michael and Alma Sellers Froneberger.
 
Mr. Froneberger was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Lutheran Men in Mission and served in various capacities. He joined the United States Air Force during Korea and played baseball and his team won the World Wide Championship. When he returned, he attended and graduated from Gardner Webb where he was a pitcher for the baseball team. Wayne was retired form Carolina Freight Carriers as a cost accountant. Wayne was also a 50 year member of Cherryville Masonic Lodge #505 AF &AM.
 
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Margie Seibl Shaw; and three brothers J. M., Harold, and his twin Blaine Froneberger.
 
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Beatrice Jenkins Froneberger; daughter, Linda Froneberger Sturgill and husband, Dan of Hickory; son, Stan Froneberger and wife, Amy of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Lauren and Bonnie Froneberger and Sarah and Brandon Sturgill; sister, Sara Black and husband, Rans of Aiken, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
 
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday at 2 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Eric Childers officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends Sunday in Vida Dellinger Parlor of the church from 1-1:45 PM and at other times at the home.
