Wayne "Lightnin" Conner, age 75, of Ellenboro, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born March 3, 1940 in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Lee and Belle Conner. Wayne worked for Lutz-Yelton Heating and Air and Master Temp Heating and Air for many years. He also worked for Scott Vending Company for several years. He was a Baptist and enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Reid Conner and sister, Lois Conner Hall.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-two years, Joan Earley Conner; three daughters, Tammy Glawson and husband, Scott of Clayton, NC, Suzanne McGuire and husband, Tim and Lori Irvin and husband, Toney all of Mooresboro; one son, Chad Conner of Ellenboro. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jennifer Glawson, Courtney Harris, Wesley Harris, Brandie Robinson, Amanda McPeters, Maximus Bridges; three great-grandchildren, Gabriella Fordyce, Alexys Robinson, and Carlee McPeters and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend John Godfrey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
