| Whitley Travis Mangum, 26, of 1325 Montrose Drive, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at home.
A native of Cleveland Co., NC Whitley is the son of Travis and Amy Henry Mangum of Shelby and brother of Jillian Mangum, of Greenville, SC ; Jordan Mangum; and Grayson Mangum, both of Shelby. Whitley is a 2007 graduate of North Shelby School.
Whitley is survived by his grandmother, Kathleen Henry of Shelby, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Whitley is also survived by his devoted caretakers Stephanie Hair, Flora Morrow, and Malva Johnson. Whitley is preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mangum of Wake Forest, NC; Mr. John Henry of Shelby; and an aunt, Marilyn Mangum Searle of Wake Forest, NC.
Whitley enjoyed spending time outdoors and riding the family golf cart.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Putnam Memorial Baptist Church. Pastor Gary Marburger and Michael Gullatte will be officiating. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary from 10am – 11am prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home.
