Mr. Wifford "Josh" Hugh Harris 85 of Hickory NC and Cliffside NC passed away Tuesday, August 23 at Burke County Hospice House.

Born September 26, 1930 in Rutherford Co., NC, he is the husband of Mary Sims Harris and was the son of the late Arthur Harris and the late Elsie Jones Harris. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church. He was retired after more than 30 years of service from Centel Telephone Company of Hickory, was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army Medical Corp., he was also a member of the American Legion. Josh enjoyed life, gun collecting, gardening, farming was a devoted family man and had a great sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years; a son, Michael Hugh Harris of Statesville and a grandson Justin Michael Harris of Snowshoe.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, August 26, 2016 at Prospect Baptist Church with Pastor Ernie Cole and Pastor John Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Park, Gaffney, SC with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8 PM Thursday August 25, 2016 at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside.
