Wilburn Caveny Parker

Wilburn Caveny Parker, age 90, resident of Kings Mountain, NC passed away on  November 14, 2011 at Kings Mountain Hospital.   He was a native of Wilmington, NC, born on June 22, 1921 to the late Jesse C. Parker and Pearl Wilburn Parker.  He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jesse and John and sister, Elizabeth.   He graduated in 1944 from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill with a degree in Commerce and obtained a Masters in Education from Appalachian State University.  He worked as a banker in New York City before moving back to N. C.    He was principal of Rhodhiss Elementary School, Rhodhiss, NC and later became a teacher at Elizabeth Elementary, Shelby, NC   Bill loved classical music, singing, reading, and doing word puzzles.  He loved working in his yard, building bluebird houses and tending his beautiful flowers.   He was a member of El Bethel United Methodist Church, where he served as chairperson of the church council.  He was a member of the Caldwell County Rotary Club and was 2nd Lt. in the United States Navy serving during World War II. 

SURVIVORS: Wife: Pauline Bailey Parker, Kings Mtn. NC

 Son: Randall C. Parker, Kings Mtn. NC

 Daughter: Deia Parker Cassidy, Indian Trail, NC

3 Grandchildren: Lindsay Cassidy, Justin Cassidy, and Jason Parker.

Numerous nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 1:00 – 2:00 P.M.  Wednesday, November 16, 2011 prior to the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
