Willa Sue Shields Whitaker Schuetz went to Heaven on Sunday, June 15, 2014 after a courageous fight with cancer.

She was born in Shelby, NC, to J. Don Shields and Martha Jane Spake Shields of Shelby. Sue was a lifelong resident of Cleveland County.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James L. Whitaker; and brother, Brad Shields and his wife, Jane.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Juergen Peter Schuetz; son, Timothy Whitaker and wife, Alice of Rock Hill, SC; step-son, Kevin Peter Schuetz and wife, Erin of New Bethlehem, PA; granddaughters, Jessica and Reagan Whitaker; step grandson, Kyle Peter Schuetz; brother, Dr. Scott Shields and wife, Carolyn of Enid, OK; sister, Patricia Shields Allen and husband, Danny of Lugoff, SC; and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A memorial service to honor Sue will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 21 at First Baptist Church Shelby, 120 N. Lafayette St, Shelby. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
