William Algie Varner, 63, of 144 Varner Drive, passed away on Friday, December 1st, 2023, at Cherokee Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, South Carolina, he was the husband of Doris Broom Varner and the son of Juanita Lowery Pickeral and the late Marshall Varner. William worked as a mechanic and enjoyed working on cars. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp.

Surviving Mr. Varner are two brothers, James Varner of Pickens and Marshall Varner of Gastonia; two grandchildren raised in the home, Destinee Rawilson and Makenzie Rawilson; his granddaughter, Haley Peterson, and his sisters-in-law Kathy, Dorothy, Gloria, and Brenda.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Varner was preceded in death by his brother Danny Varner, his grandparents, Frank and Inez Varner, and his son, Tam Peterson. Also he was preceded in death by his father-in -law and mother-in-law, Coleen and Rochelle Broom, and by his brother-in-law, Edward Rochelle Broome, Jr.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

The family will be at the residence.
