William Allen Jones II age 78 went to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 13, 2015 peacefully Peak Resources in Shelby with his wife and children at his side. Born in Cleveland County in the Poplar Springs Community on November 7, 1936, he was the son of the late William Allen and Hannah Jarrett McCurry Jones. Allen was an active member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon, served on various committees and coached the ladies softball team. Allen worked for the Dover Mills for over 47 years and retired from D & O Warehouse. He volunteered for the Gardner Webb Baseball and Football teams. Allen walked and fished the banks of the Broad River since the age of 9. He was a nature lover and avid supporter of the Broad River Greenway. In addition to his parents Allen is preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Love Ware.

Allen is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sonja Hedrick Jones; a daughter, Elizabeth Jones Barton and husband Kenneth of Brevard; sons Lyman Allen Jones and wife Amy of Mill Spring, and Mike Templeton and girlfriend Julie Melser of Greenville SC; brother-in-law Jack Ware, brothers Robert Jones, and Lyman Jones and wife Jean all of Shelby; six grandchildren, Kala and Meredith Barton, Baron, Grant and Lance Jones, and Brandon Templeton.

The family would like to thank the staff of Peak Resources for the loving care and attention that Allen received during his stay.

Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday September 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Boiling Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Keith McKinney, Dr. Gene Washburn and Jerry Bryson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Life Enrichment Center.
