William (Bill) Albergotti Lattimore

William (Bill) Albergotti Lattimore of Shelby, NC passed away on March 12, 2016 at Testa Family Hospice House. He was born in Blacksburg, SC on October 30, 1927 to the late Samuel Custer Lattimore and Mary Albergotti Lattimore. Bill was a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina where he was a member of the varsity baseball team. He was a life-long Gamecock fan long before it was popular to be one. He enlisted in the Army after college and served his country on the battlefield during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He worked on the family cotton farm for many years before becoming the Postmaster in Shelby until his retirement.

He is survived by his loving, caring wife of sixty years, Peggy Neel Lattimore, his sons, Talley Albergotti Lattimore (Gloria) of Columbia, SC, George Neel Lattimore of Shelby and his loving daughter, Bennette Lattimore Zentmeyer (Gentry ) of Martinsville, VA. and his many grandchildren of which he was so proud of, William A. Lattimore, II, Samuel K. Lattimore, Talley A. Lattimore, Jr. , Teresa Rose Lattimore, Capers P. Zentmeyer and Virginia H. Zentmeyer.

The family wishes to thank everyone at the Testa Family Hospice House for their love, kindness and care in his final days.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Shelby Presbyterian Church with Dr. Luke Harkey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shelby Presbyterian Church, 226 East Graham Street, Shelby, NC 28150.
