William "Bill" Fain LeGrand

William "Bill" Fain LeGrand age 95, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center-Cleveland. Bill was born in Cleveland County on February 24, 1920 to the late Richard Torrance and Lillian Fain LeGrand. He was also preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Mabry LeGrand; three sisters; and two brothers.

Bill was a man of great faith. He was a former member of Shelby Presbyterian Church where he served as a former Elder and a long time Sunday school Teacher. He currently was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. He could often be found witnessing that faith to others and spreading good cheer to all he met. He was an active church and civic leader. Bill served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Shelby Rotary Club honored with Paul Harris Fellow. He also volunteered for many non-profit organizations. For many decades he cherished the leadership and service he was able to render to the Shelby Mill and P & M Warehouse families.

He will be dearly missed by his three sons Bill LeGrand and wife Lynn of Rock Hill, SC, Stuart LeGrand and wife Liddy, and David LeGrand and wife Lisa all of Shelby, NC. He will also be missed by eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and by his many friends of all ages.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the Sterling House and Cleveland Pines for the great care given to Bill.

A graveside service celebrating Bill's life will be held at 4:00pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Sunset Cemetery with Dr. Rit Varriale and Dr. Luke Harkey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: Hospice of Cleveland County 951 Wendover Heights Dr. Shelby, NC 28150.
