William “Bill” Fredrick Souders

Mr. William “Bill” Fredrick Souders, 75, of Polkville passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Dallas, WA, he was born March 27, 1939, son of the late Albert Fredrick and Nina Mae Hamby Souders. He was actively involved with Parents without Partners, dancing, playing bingo, fishing, and telling stories (both true and untrue). He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the time of peace between the Korean and the Vietnam wars.

PRECEDED: in addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Ann Souders and by a sister, Edith Campbell

SURVIVED: He is survived by a special companion, Kathleen Wilson of Polkville; one son, Robert Souders and wife Maggie of Polkville; one daughter, Jenny Havens of Reno, NV; a son, Ernie Souders and wife Cynthia of Reno, NV; a son, Bill Souders of Vancouver, WA; another son, Trent Souders of Camas, WA; one sister, Eileen Davis and her husband Don of Washington State; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

SERVICES: A service celebrating the life of Mr. Souders will be held in the Chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby Saturday at 2:00pm with military honors.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to McBrayer Springs Presbyterian Church in America (MSPCA), 1903 McBrayer Springs Road, Shelby, NC 28150.
