Rev. William “Bill” Pheagin, of 906 Branton Drive, Shelby, NC passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Services were held at Lafayette Street United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Puett United Methodist Church Cemetery, Dallas, NC with Military Rites.
Mr. Pheagin served our country in the U.S. Navy, serving in both World War II and the Korean War..
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Gantt Pheagin; his parents, William Homer Pheagin, Sr. and Lula Mae Lawson Pheagin; and 1 brother, James Thomas Pheagin.
He is survived by his beloved second wife, Marilyn Surber Ellis Pheagin; 4 sons, Eddie Pheagin and wife Audrey of Grover, NC, Joe Pheagin and wife Ila of Kings Mountain, NC, Dan Pheagin of Ohio, and Tim Pheagin and wife Vicki of Randleman, NC; and 2 step-children, Gigi Ellis Suggs of Alpharetta, GA, and Mike Ellis and wife Derice of Kings Mountain, NC; 1 sister, Gladys Ledbetter and husband Dwight of Kings Mountain, NC; 24 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Lafayette Street United Methodist Church, 1420 S. Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28152; or to: Crossroad Rescue Mission, 206 Mt. Sinai Church Road, Shelby, NC 28150.
