| William “Bill” Pinkney Anthony, 76, passed away on January 21, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County he was the son of the late Arthur P Anthony and Katie N Neal. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Anthony Gates; brothers, Tony Reid Anthony and Bobby Neal Anthony. Mr. Anthony graduated from Bethware High School in 1953. He served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea from 1957 – 1959. He was retired from PPG and TACC. Mr. Anthony was a member of Crestview Baptist Church where he was a member of the Prodigal Sons Sunday school class.
Mr. Anthony is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Shirley K. Anthony; son, Neal Anthony and wife; step-daughter, Benita Duffie and husband Chuck; grandson, Ben Duffie; and sister Cornelia Anthony Eaker and husband Jack.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Crestview Baptist Church. The Rev. Stan Webb and the Rev. Mel Campos will be officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. At other times the family will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Senior Center of Shelby for Meals on Wheels, 100 TR Harris Drive, Shelby NC 28150 or Crestview Church/Phone Tree, 1090 Old Boiling Springs Road, Shelby NC 28152.
