William Brisco Newton, 87, of Shelby, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Atrium Health - Cleveland.

Born in Cleveland County on March 30, 1934, he was a son of the late Robert Everett Newton and Elva Zena Wall Newton. He was retired from Doran Textiles and the Cleveland County Landfill Lutz site.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Street Newton; one son, Timothy Neil Newton; three brothers, Lemmie Newton, Alvin Newton and Velestus Newton and two sisters, Mattie Martin and Affie Hudson.

Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Newton of Polkville and Cindi Alexander and husband David of Polkville; one brother, R.E. Newton of Union Mills; special granddaughter, Jessica Gauvreau and husband Ben of Huntersville and others who knew him as Paw Bill.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service. At other times, the family will be at the home of Mr. Newton, 4417 Polkville Rd., Shelby, NC 28150.

The graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

The burial will follow the service in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
