Mr. William Byers, 75, of Hines Loop Road, Mooresboro, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Autumn Care Nursing Center. A native of Cherokee County, South Carolina, he was born May 5, 1937, a son of the late Howard and Cozetta Leach Byers. He was a retired diesel mechanic with Hess Oil Company and a member of Hicks Grove Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Vondalese Blackwell; one granddaughter, Brandy Griffin.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hill Byers; two sons, Randall Leo Byers of Alaska and William Matthew Byers of Mooresboro; one daughter, Traci Elizabeth of Mooresboro; one brother, David Byers of Rutherfordton; three sisters, Juanita Byers of Spartanburg, Sadie Byers of Spartanburg, and Velvie McCranie of Leeland, NC and nine grandchildren.
Funeral Servies will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Hicks Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Byrd officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
