William C. "Bill" Bridges, age 86, of Garden Street, Forest City, died Monday, July 4, 2016 at the Hospice House in Forest City.
Born on Tuesday, October 20, 1929, he was a son to the late J. Frank Bridges and Essie Cook Bridges. Bill was a graduate of R-S Central High School and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He owned and operated Bridges Used Cars and was a wholesale auto dealer for over forty-five years. Bill was dedicated to his work and enjoyed camping, fishing and car races. He loved his family and knew the Lord as his Savior.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Rosie Morrow Bridges and a son, Jimmy Bridges.
Survivors include one daughter, Vicki Shehan of Rutherfordton; three sons, Jeff Bridges and wife, Crystal, Gary Bridges and Richard Bridges all of Forest City. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Harrelson Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be conducted at the Alexander City Cemetery with Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating. At other times the family will be gathered at 131 Garden Street, Forest City.
