William David Humphries

William David Humphries, affectionately known as "Mule Man", of 387 Dye Road, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, SC, on May 2, 1949, he was the son of the late Jesse Woodrow Humphries and Virginia Irene Burke Humphries. David formerly worked as a truck driver. He loved his animals, fishing, gold mining, enjoyed working on his farm, loved western movies, and he had a giving soul and a huge heart for people.

Surviving Mr. Humphries are his three daughters; Cynthia Humphries (Dennis Garr), of Taylorsville, NC, April Humphries (Robert Thompson), of Kings Mountain, NC, and Virginia Bernard, of Louisiana; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman (Teresa) Humphries, of Gaffney, brother, Dean (Eva) Humphries, of Clover; two sisters, Virginia Humphries, of Crowders Mountain, NC, Dorothy Peterson, of Gaffney ;and all of his beloved furbabies.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Humphries was preceded in death by his nephew, Randall Peterson.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702. Graveside service will be on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 2:00pm, at Burke Family Cemetery, 804 West Cherokee Street, Chesnee, SC 29323. Services will be officiated by Mr. Buddy Ligon.

Eric Greene, Mike Bell, Ronnie Patterson, Jerry Patterson, Josh Hoyle, And Dennis Garr will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be at their respective residences.
