William Dilks Baker Jr.

William Dilks Baker Jr., known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, passed away on June 18, 2025, in Shelby, North Carolina. Born on August 3, 1962, in Pennsville, New Jersey, Bill's zest for life and kind-hearted nature touched everyone he met. His adventurous spirit and optimistic outlook remained a constant source of inspiration throughout his 62 years.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving parents, William Sr. and Eliza Baker. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted wife, Pam Baker, his son Jordan Self and Jordan's girlfriend, Brenda Conniger, and his adored grandson, Jaxson Self. Bill's brother, Randall Johnson, and brother-in-law, Joe Self, will also hold dear the memories of the times they shared.

Bill's life was one of exploration and joy. He had a profound love for the beach, where he would spend countless hours soaking up the sun and listening to the rhythm of the waves. It was there that he found peace and a sense of connection with the world around him. Bill's adventurous nature wasn't confined to the sandy shores; it was evident in every aspect of his life, from his travels to the way he approached daily challenges.

Described by those who knew him as kind and optimistic, Bill had an uncanny ability to see the good in people and situations. His kindness was not just a trait but a way of life, as he always put others before himself and went out of his way to help those in need. His optimism shone like a beacon, guiding his family and friends through difficult times with the assurance that better days were always ahead.

Bill's educational journey was a testament to his belief in the importance of personal growth. He approached learning with the same passion he brought to every other aspect of his life. While services are private at this time, the impact of Bill's life on those he loved is immeasurable and will be celebrated in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

As we bid farewell to William Dilks Baker Jr., we remember a man whose life was as deep and vast as the ocean he loved. Bill's memory will continue to guide and comfort us, just as the lighthouse guides ships safely to shore. His spirit, like the eternal horizon, will remain a part of us, reminding us always to live adventurously, kindly, and with unwavering optimism.
