William Franklin Garner, age 83 of Petes Rd. passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Sherrills Ford Hospice House. He was born on February 17, 1933 in Lincoln County to the late Howard Houston and Bonnie Cornwell Garner. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church Cherryville and a member of the Lincolnton Masonic Lodge #137 AF & AM. He retired from Carlton Mill and went on to receive his Associate's Degree in Accounting. He was formerly employed with George Beam Accounting. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and riding on his tractor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Thornburg Garner; son, Keith Wayne Garner; and brothers, Jack and Max Garner.
Survivors include his daughter, Gay Stone and husband, Daniel of Lincolnton; granddaughter, Jennifer Willis and husband, Lance of Vale; great granddaughter, Jada Willis; and brother, Larry Garner and wife, Sherry of Lincolnton.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner and Rev. Bobby Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn of Lincolnton where Masonic Rites will be held. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
