William Harrison "Bill" Tessner
William Harrison "Bill" Tessner, 94, 461 Moss Crossing, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Peak Resources, Cherryville, NC. Born July 11, 1921, in NC, he was the widower of the late Pauline Melton Tessner and the son of the late Tom and Nancy Jones Tessner.
Bill started Tessner's Garage at his home on Rutherford Street in 1945. He always had a passion for working on vehicles. Tessner's Garage is located at 491 Moss Crossing, Blacksburg, SC. He was an active part of Tessner's Garage until he got sick in November. He also loved to meet with a group of men at Hardee's and McDonald's each morning. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church and attended Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son - Billy Tessner and wife, Carolyn; three daughters - Shirley Moss, Barbara Moore and husband, Vernon, and Paulette Sanders and husband, Dennis, all of Blacksburg, SC; daughter-in-law Linda Hyatt Tessner of Blacksburg, SC; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; sixteen great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-granddaughter. In addition to his wife of 71 years, Pauline, he was preceded in death by two sons - Alston and Roy Tessner, one grandson - Donnie Lee Moore, and fifteen brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8:00 PM at Mt. Paran Baptist Church. A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016, 3:00 PM, at Mt. Paran Baptist Church, with Revs. Michael Owen and Vernon Moore officiating. Entombment, with military honors, will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. At other times, the family will be at the home of Billy and Carolyn Tessner, 351 Moss Crossing, Blacksburg, SC.
Active pallbearers serving are Scott Tessner, Jonathan DeBrueler, Mark Moore, Chad Tessner, William Martin and Dennis Sanders. Honorary pallbearer will be Kevin Tessner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals On Wheels, PO Box 1886, Gaffney, SC, 29342, or to the charity of one's choice.
