William Paschal Mabry

A tragic accident took the life of William Paschal Mabry of 102 Liberty Street in Savannah at the age of 23 on February 11, 2011 in Savannah, Georgia.  A native of Shelby, NC, he was known for his warm heart, kind smile, and free spirit.  He loved life, lived life and will be missed by all whose lives he touched.  He was a 2005 graduate of Shelby High School, after which he played soccer for Wofford College for two years.  He also attended the Savannah College of Art and Design.  He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Shelby where as a youth he was very active in the youth groups.  He was an Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop #104.  He participated in the Chrysalis Walk and volunteered his time with special needs children and adults with North Shelby School and Camp Tekoa for many years.  An accomplished sculptor and artist, one of his sculptures marks the entrance to Wofford College. 

He is survived by his parents, William “Will” Franklin Mabry, Jr. and Joan “Joanie” Paschal Mabry of Shelby.  He is also survived by a brother, Christian Mabry of Wilmington, and by two sisters, Holly Mabry of Durham and Drew Mabry, of the home.  Also surviving are his grandmothers, Susie Mabry of Shelby and Pat K. Paschal of Whiteville, NC.  He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, family, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Franklin Mabry, Sr. and Dr. Jerry D. Paschal.

A memorial service celebrating the life of William will be held on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Craig Langston officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
