Willie Louis Phillips

Mr. Willie Louis Phillips, 89, formerly of 832 Carver St. Shelby departed this life on Monday, May 27, 2013 at Meadow Wood Nursing Center in Lowell, NC.  He was born November 20, 1923 in Monroe, GA to the late John Lewis and Offie Etchinson Phillips. 

Louis was a faithful member of Eskridge Grove Baptist Church where he joined at an early age.  He retired in 1989 from J & C Dye Co, a part of Dover Mill where he was a dedicated employee for 44 years.  Louis was an outdoors person who thoroughly enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roger Wayne Williams; two brothers, Fletcher Phillips and J.P Phillips and a sister, Marie Brooks.

He is survived by his two daughters, Wilda Kilgore Barringer of Orange, NJ and Bonnie Adams (Miller) of Pittsburgh, PA; a sister, Flossie Helen McAfee of Shelby; a brother, Elijah Phillips of Boiling Springs, NC; three grandchildren, Ava Kilgore of Pittsburgh, PA, Eric Kilgore of Orange, NJ and Roger Wayne Williams of Boston, MA; a great-grandchild, Eve-Marie Kilgore; a special niece, Offia Blanton of Shelby; good friend and neighbor, Mack Corry of Shelby and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Eskridge Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Strickland Maddox officiating.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:00 AM at the church on Thursday and at other times at the home of Sallie Leach, 1106, Stanton Drive, Shelby.  Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloes.net.  Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
