Sunday, December 18th, 2011 is the date for this year's Ride for the Children, sponsored by the Windjammers Motorcycle Club. Motorcycle riders are invited to join this event that, last year, had over 250 riders. Motorcycles and riders will start gathering at noon at Cleveland Mall in Shelby. Rockin' Rick, a local DJ, will be providing the music. The riders will depart at 1:30 p.m. For those who want to view the motorcycle parade, the route will be via Marion Street to the court square, to Hwy 74 then to Aaron's House in Lattimore. Each rider is asked to bring a gift, or a monetary contribution. Gifts will be distributed to children in the Cleveland County foster care system and contributions go to Children's Homes of Cleveland County. Please join in this very special and unique Christmas tradition on Sunday afternoon, December 18. It's a good way to make a child's Christmas memorable and to share the Christmas spirit.
