Wray Wright

Mr. Wray Wright, 72, of 528 Suttle St. Shelby, NC departed his earthly life on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at his residence.  He was born on March 9, 1941 in Cleveland County to the late Theodore and Addie Surratt Wright.

 

Wray attended Washington School in Waco, NC. He loved to laugh and was a major sports fan.  He got his greatest enjoyment working in his yard making sure it was always neat, clean and beautiful.  He did not just have a green thumb but a green hand.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Calvin Wright, Eugene Wright, Charles Wright, William Wright, Lee Wright and John Dewitt Wright and one sister, Odessa Gash; one grandson, Martin Terrell and one great-grandchild, Ri’jae Demarion McKissick.

 

He leaves to cherish his memory a long time and devoted friend, Helen Horton of Shelby; four daughters, Mary W. Clark (Melvin) of Kings Mountain, NC, Beverly Wright Young (Bleese), of Kingstown, NC and  Daphnne J. Wright and Jacqueline J. Wright both of Shelby; one son, Rayfert Wright of Shelby; two sisters, Carolyn Wright and Ollie Merriweather both of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Edna Wright of Shelby; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; long time friend, Bobby Camp of Waco and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 12:30 PM at Washington Missionary Baptist Church Pastor James L. Smith officiating and Pastor Melvin Clark delivering the eulogy.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 12:30 and at other times at the home.
