The Civil Air Patrol Shelby Composite Squadron has volunteered to conduct the Wreaths Across America ceremony this year at the Sunset Cemetery, 412 W. Sumter St., Shelby, NC, on Saturday, December 16, 2017, starting at 12:00 pm. Seven ceremonial wreaths will be placed to remember those who served, honor their sacrifices, and teach our younger generations about the cost of our freedoms. We welcome all to join us during this special time.
Specially designated wreaths for the Army, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines, and POW/MIA will be placed on the memorials during a ceremony that will be coordinated simultaneously at over 1200 participating locations all across the country.
In addition to these ceremonial wreaths, a number of civic groups around the Country have joined with Wreaths Across America to promote sponsored wreaths to be placed on veterans' graves in designated sections of participating cemeteries. Each year the sections are rotated to eventually include all veterans.
