Catherine "Granny" Clementine Scruggs Greene

Catherine "Granny" Clementine Scruggs Greene, 99, of Mooresboro, NC went to her heavenly home June 15, 2020.

She was a genuine sweet Christian woman. She couldn't hear too good but her mind was sharp. She had been in a nursing home since the end of January. The COVID-19 lock down had prevented visits since late February and we were all sad. Granny was in the hospital , then hospice for the last week of her life and that allowed family to spend nearly every waking moment by her side. Think about this..... 99 years.... Born in 1921..... Right after WW1.....and just as Women were given the right to VOTE! She was a little girl during the roaring 20's..... Saw the Great Depression up close and personal..... Most homes didn't have electricity or running water then and was one of 7 kids. She was 20 years old when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor...... Saw her husband go to war and return home...... Granny worked at and retired from Cone Mills in Cliffside after 42 years. She lived in another time when there were very few cars.....rarely saw an airplane..... It was a simpler time. People were just different. They loved GOD and helped each other. We like to think of what she witnessed during her long life....all the changes and family who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Cicero Greene; parents, Thomas and Nora Harris Scruggs; brothers, Theron, Carlos, Jack & Glen Scruggs; sisters, Louise Connor and Nellie Moore; son-in-law, Clyde Harris.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Harris; grand-daughters, Cheryl Griffin and husband Tim of Kings Mountain, Dawn Alexander and husband Richard of Mooresboro; many cherished grandchildren whom she lovingly babysat when they were small - Brittany McCurry, Tyler Hunt, Alyssa Enouini, Jessica Alexander, Amber Alexander, Sydney Alexander and Camden Alexander; great grandchildren, Katie, Addy, Ryker and Solon.

She attended Boiling Springs Methodist Church for many years until she wasn't able.

Graveside Services are planned for Sunday, June 21st at 2:30 pm at Rutherford County Memorial Park in Forest City, NC with Rev. Mike Frazier officiating.

Memorials may be made to Hospice at Wendover, 915 Wendover Heights, Shelby NC.

Arrangements entrusted to Robert Morgan Funeral and Cremation Service of Boiling Springs, NC.
