Doug Francis, age 65, of Forest City, NC, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 at his residence.
Born August 17, 1950 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Elmer Gene Francis and Jaunalda Kennedy Francis. He worked in textiles for several years and was the co-owner and operator of Francis Grading for the last twenty-five years. He was a faithful member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church and an active member of the Grounds Committee.
Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Mary Upton Francis; two sons, Douglas Todd Francis and wife, Sharon of Forest City and Danny Gene Francis of Ellenboro; sister, Jane Downey and husband, David of Forest City and brother, Neil Francis and wife, Beth of Ellenboro; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Francis of Forest City. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chris Francis, Brittany Francis, Blake Francis, Madison Francis, Jared Francis and two great-grandsons, Bentley Francis and Lenox Alexander.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Poe Jones and Reverend Mike Cash officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
