Emma Gertrude Roberts Patrick died Friday, September 13, 2024 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.

A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus Edley and Molly Leigh Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Homer Roberts, Claton Roberts, Frank Roberts, Mamie Smith, Elizabeth Blanton, Mildred Blanton, Jack Roberts and Ruth Childrez. She is survived by a brother, Richard Roberts, and her children Joy White and Bobby, Barbara Champion and Phil, and Stephen Patrick and Sandra. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Chad Peeler (Mark Deaver), Megan Honeychuck (Andrew), Leah Grooms (Jamie), Haley Watson (Anthony), Emma Patrick (Jay Epps) and five great-grandchildren, Aviana, Braylon, Mina, Dallas and Zyra.
Emma Gertrude was a member of Hoey United Methodist Church where she served as Sundy School teacher, Bible School director and church lay leader. She was a master tailor and created beautiful wardrobes for her family and clients. She attended No. 3 High School (where she was Editor of the Annual and Miss Hi Miss) and received her degree from Cleveland Community College. She enrolled in college at forty-one to become a nurse and spent most of her career at Kings Mountain Hospital. She enjoyed her garden and loved babies and birds. She was an avid reader and a prolific writer. Her family came first. Continuing education was essential and belief in God was assumed. She believed in duty and set a wonderful example of that. She was unique and will be missed by many.
There will be a graveside gathering for family 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 16, 2024. We ask all family and friends to hold a favorite memory of her in their hearts. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you find a charity or someone who needs your help and give as you remember Emma Gertrude.
