“I’m A Giver Not A Receiver”
They say: “what goes around, comes around” and if that be the case, it definitely fits the philosophy of Ann Jones Thompson. She is an ardent supporter of the Cleveland County Boys & Girls Club and has always cared about and has “privately, not for the glory” helped support their cause. A good example is when she lost her son, Robert. In lieu of flowers, she asked that contributions be made in his name to the Boys & Girls Club. That request netted the club over $1,000. She finds it embarrassing to talk about this. On Friday, June 11 the annual benefit for the Cleveland Boys & Girls Club was held in Goforth Hall at the fairgrounds. In addition to a barbecue meal, a silent and live auction, the highlight of the evening was the drawing for a new 2013 Ford Focus. Four hundred $100 tickets were sold for the chance to win. To her amazement, the winning ticket this year was #97. The holder of the ticket was Ann Jones Thompson.  Ann said modestly, “I’m a giver, not a taker.” Doesn’t it seem appropriate that she was presented with a special “thank you” from her favorite organization.
