Lemonade Stand Aids Tennessee School Students

Just before school let out for the summer, Jefferson Elementary first graders opened a lemonade stand. The purpose was to raise funds for Pennington Elementary School ,located just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, where eighty-seven students had their homes destroyed by historic flood waters in May. Over $1100 was raised. Jefferson first grade teacher, Mrs. Jenkins, drove to Tennessee to personally present the school with the proceeds. Shown here (in back) with some of the Jefferson lemonade sellers is their other first grade teacher, Mae Beth Robinson with her assistant, Janet Reynolds.
