Just before school let out for the summer, Jefferson Elementary first graders opened a lemonade stand. The purpose was to raise funds for Pennington Elementary School ,located just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, where eighty-seven students had their homes destroyed by historic flood waters in May. Over $1100 was raised. Jefferson first grade teacher, Mrs. Jenkins, drove to Tennessee to personally present the school with the proceeds.
