| Madge Sailors Shelton, 74, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at home. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Grady and Ethel Abernathy Sailors. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Shelton; sisters, Nancy Morrison and Lois Crowder. Madge was a member of Elliott Memorial Baptist Church. She was retired from Ester Mill Corporation after 30 years of service. She loved reading and playing cards with her sisters.
Madge is survived by her son, Rocky Lee Shelton Sr, and wife Debra of Shelby; daughter, Sheila Cobb of Shelby, NC; sister, Hazel Vandyke of Lincolnton, NC; brother, Ed Sailors and wife Katherine of Shelby, Ronnie Sailors and wife Sandy of Shelby, Raymond Sailors and wife Mary of Cleveland, TN, Donald Sailors of Lincolnton, NC; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Elliott Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. Jerry Allen and Rev. Leroy Melton will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00pm on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
