Ms. Mildred "Kay" Sims Miller, 71, of Shelby, NC, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at her residence.

On October 11, 1954, Mildred "Kay" Miller was born in Lawndale, North Carolina, to the late Matthew Henry Sims and Helen Johnson Sims.

Kay was also preceded in death by two sisters, Teresa Sims and Beverly Sims and a niece, Brooke Kee. , leaving behind to cherish her precious memories and to continue her legacy through her five jewels: Corry Miller (Rhonda Kaye Miller) of McDonough, GA, Christopher Miller of Shelby, NC,
Dyshena Miller of Virginia Beach, VA, Terry Lee Miller Jr. and Levi Miller both of Shelby; brother Michael Sims of Lawndale, NC; sister, Vicky Sims of Charlotte, NC; and ex-husband, Terry Lee Miller, Sr. of Asheville, NC. She also leaves behind 27 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, her devoted best friend Betsy Williams, her special friend, Floyd Brooks, and her beloved godson, Kinyon McClain, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones who will forever cherish her love and memory.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Lawndale First Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
