Virgie Huffstetler Eaker

Virgie Huffstetler Eaker, age 84, a lifelong resident of Kings Mountain, died August 7, 2012 at Kings Mountain Hospice House. She was daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Mary Ross Huffstetler.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, the late Boyce E. Eaker, brothers, Tom, Warren, Gus, and Clyde Huffstetler and sisters, Louise Huffstetler and Selma Owens.  Virgie graduated from Bethany High School, Gaston College, and received a degree in Elementary Education from UNCC.  She was a retired school teacher, Sunday School teacher, and a longtime member of El Bethel United Methodist Church.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and held a special place in her heart for her great grandson, Hunter.  The family would like to give special thanks to friends/caregivers Gail Jenkins and Karen Lemley, as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff of Kings Mountain Hospice House who provided care, love, and support during Mom’s final weeks. 

 

SURVIVORS: Son: Mark W. Eaker and wife Cynthia, Gastonia, NC

Daughter: Donna E. Russ and husband Phillip, Kings Mtn. NC

Brother: Roy Huffstetler, Kings Mtn. NC

Granddaughter: Paige M. Seawright and husband Michael, Gastonia, NC

Great grandson: Hunter Cooke.

 

FUNERAL SERVICE: El Bethel United Methodist Church, Thursday, August 9, 2012   11:00 A.M.  Rev. Tom Jolly, officiating.

 

VISITATION: 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening, August 8, 2012 at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, North Carolina at other times at the home of Michael and Paige Seawright, 179 Chestnut Lane, Gastonia, NC. 

 

INTERMENT: El Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
