53rd Annual Safety Awards Banquet

Cherie  Berry, North Carolina Carolina Commissioner of Labor, addressed the 53rd Annual Safety Awards Banquet on Thursday, April 19th at the LeGrand Center in Shelby. It was the largest awards banquet ever held in Cleveland County and as she pointed out, “the second largest in the entire state.” The Commissioner said she was “very gratified and hoped the growth of the program would continue. You all are to be congratulated for this tremendous effort.”
Eursula Joyner, Safety Awards Coordinator, shows off the Fifth Consecutive Year Awards. They were presented to City of Shelby, Airport; City of Shelby, Community Development; City of Shelby, Housing Department; The Shaw Constructors Group, Incorporated and Cliffside Modernization Project. The Fifth Consecutive Year Awards are a milestone in the program. There were a total of 67 certificates and awards presented during the evening. The Million-Hour Awards (1 Million Hours, Or Multiples thereof, With No Lost Time Accidents) were received by Rockwood Lithium, Incorporated, Shaw Constructors, Incorporated (who each had a  million hours)  and The Timken Company, Shiloh Plant who had an amazing four million hours. - M.A. ANDREWS
