57th Annual Hamfest Returns To Fairgrounds Labor Day Weekend
"Satellite Sam" from Lynchburg, Virginia prepares his booth at this year’s Shelby Hamfest.
The 57th annual, “Grand-Daddy Of Them All”, Shelby Hamfest comes home! On August 31st and September 1st, the Shelby Hamfest will return to the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. In celebration of “coming home” Hamfest is offering some great prizes. The pre-registration prize is a HY-Gain TH-3MK4-10/15/20 Beam; Saturday’s main prize is Ameritron 811H; Sunday’s prize is FlexRadio Systems Flex-3000. Plus, there will be lots of great hourly prizes. The Shelby Hamfest is proudly sponsored by the Shelby Amateur Radio Club.
The Chairman of this year’s event is Ben Melvin from Kings Mountain. This is Ben’s (KM4C Radio) third year as Chairman. After five years in Dallas, the Hamfest is excited and happy to be back home. Ben said: “We’re looking forward to being here where we have always belonged. We have a lot of people who are saying how glad they are to be back at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds.”
Hamfest is a gathering of ham radio operators, mostly from the Southeast but many come from all over the country
and different parts of the world. The American Radio Relay League has announced that the 2014 Shelby Hamfest will be the host site for the state convention.
There’s always something to find and new things to discover at the annual Hamfest. Tickets are $8.00 at the gate and gates will open both days at 7:00am. For more information visit shelbyhamfest.org  or call 908-295-5151.
