Adelaide Craver Receives “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine”
As Adelaide Craver took the time to thank everyone, Cleveland County Commissioner Johnny Hutchins held her prestigious award.
Adelaide Austell Craver’s covered desk at First National Bank is indicative of her constant giving and involvement in her native Cleveland County. She served on untold community committees and always tried to achieve good for her county and state. Her desk never lacked tremendous piles of requests, business documents and even thank you notes. She is famous for sending out those grateful notes and her work ethic is unbelievable.
She joined First National Bank in 1981 and rose to become Chairman of the Board in 2010. Adelaide Craver has always been a people person. Her simple grace and her love of community personifies this lady who knows no strangers. She saw FIrst National Bank grow to 13 offices and become a billion dollar bank. Her distinguished service was conferred by NC Governor Pat McCrory at a special gathering at First National’s Hamilton Hall on Tuesday, July 1 when she was awarded “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine”. Ronnie Hawkins, Chairman of the Cleveland County Commissioners, hosted the event on behalf of the Governor who was delayed in Raleigh due to ongoing events with the legislature. She was accompanied by her husband, Dick Craver, her children and grandchildren.  One speaker after another couldn’t say enough great things about this special lady.
“The Order of the Long Leaf Pine” is among the most prestigious awards presented by the Governor. It is the State’s highest civilian honor and is presented to individuals who have a proven record of extraordinary service to the state. Some of the guidelines by which the recipients are selected include: contributions to their communities, extra effort in their careers, and many years of service to their organizations.
We join in to wish Mrs. Craver the best days in her retirement and thank her for her years of  community service.
