Agnes Carner Maxey Holdren

Agnes Carner Maxey Holdren, age 95, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Atrium-Cleveland. The daughter of the late Jesse Moulton Maxey and Nettie Mae Carner, she was born in Vinton, VA on May 28, 1923. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Shelby Church of Christ. She volunteered for many years with the Senior Center, working in the gift shop, and she enjoyed the art classes offered there. She was retired from JC Penny in Virginia where she worked in fine jewelry. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George S. Holdren, one son, George S. "Butch" Holdren Jr., one grandson, Jerry Lee Holdren, three brothers; Edward Maxey, Berkley Maxey, and Gerald Maxey and one sister, Jean Maxey Futch.

Agnes is survived by her daughter, Beverly Quinn of Shelby and one son Jerry Holdren of Willis, VA, as well as, nine adoring grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Minister Terry Graves officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton, Virginia.
