Albert Lee Skinner
 Mr. Albert Lee Skinner, 82, of 117 Breaker Place, Cary, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Wake Medical Center, in Cary.  He was born on September 23, 1929 in Mount Vernon, NY to the late Henry and Elizabeth Chesson Skinner.  

Albert began his education at Mount Vernon High School and graduated in 1947.  Soon after graduating, he went on to pursue his career as an alto saxophone player in Harlem, NY.  In addition to playing at the famous Sayvoy and Cotton Club, he was a studio musician to some of the late great jazz musicians.  Albert had a lifelong love for music which included listening, playing and collecting hundreds of jazz albums.

After meeting his soul mate of 61 years, the former Evelyn Elizabeth Harrison, they married on April 16, 1951 and to this union were three union born, Albert Lee Skinner, Jr., Sharon Marie Skinner and Lori Ann Skinner Campbell.  After marrying, he was soon drafted into the U.S. Army on April 20, 1951 to serve and fight as a private in the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged April of 1953.  Following his discharge from the Army, he was employed with Empire State Bank in NY and retired after over 30 years of service.

Throughout his joyous years, Albert enjoyed traveling to all parts of the world, bowling and routing for his favorite teams, the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.  Albert was especially proud of watching his son succeed in his basketball career and watching his granddaughter play softball and his grandson play high school baseball.  For many years, Albert was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Queens, NY where he enjoyed many good times.

Following his brother in Christ, Joe Maddox, Albert and his loving wife both gave their lives to Christ and were baptized as a couple becoming devoted members of the Shoal Creek Baptist Church and attendants of the senior Sunday school class.  Albert was loved by many people and he loved people.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Skinner, Henry Skinner and a sister, Ernistine Skinner.

Left to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Harrison Skinner; a son, Albert Lee Skinner, Jr. (Donna Marie) of Boston, MA; three daughters, Linda Faichney of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Sharon Marie Skinner of Columbia, SC and Lori Ann Skinner-Campbell (James) of Cary, NC; seven grandchildren, Lamont Morgan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, André Skinner of Boston, MA, Miles Campbell of Cary, NC, Kelly Morgan and Gina Morgan both of Ft. Lauderdale, Ciara Tunstall of Cary and Vaniecia Skinner of Boston;  his nephews and nieces, Ronnie Skinner (Christine), Glen Skinner, Kevin Skinner, Tonya Skinner and Nyree Skinner; special cousins, Carolyn and Joe Maddox, Willis Toms, Irvin Toms, Leon Toms, Gary Toms, Lemarthine Gibson, Richard Carouthers and Stephanie Carouthers; two aunts, Sarah Carouthers and Nancy C. Hall; special friends, Eddie and Rose Adams, George and Hyla Stevens, Melba Richardson and Eleanor Martinez; his devoted caregiver, Maria Gonzales and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Issac officiating.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  The family will received friends from 1:30 until 2:00 PM at the church and at other times at the home of Carolyn and Joe Maddox, 114 Kildare Dr. in Shelby.
