Alfred Wray Richard, 82, of Shelby, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

Born in Cleveland County on January 7, 1941, he was a son of the late Bob Franklin Richard and Ethel Roper Richard. He was a retired fixer from Dover Mill and was a member of Union Baptist Church. He also drove a tractor trailer truck for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Jones Richard and three brothers, Gene Richard, Don Richard and Kenneth Richard.

Survivors include two sons, Kavin Richard and wife Cathy of Shelby and Eric Richard and wife Lynn of Polkville; daughter, Amy Breen and husband Mark of Lawndale; brother, JB Richard of Shelby; four grandchildren, Lindsay Mays, Casey Hamrick, Sarah Breen and Avery Breen and six great grandchildren, Cora, Cole, Ava, Knox, Alydia and Carter.

The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 2:00PM at Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Michael Shumate officiating.

The family will greet friends following the graveside service.
