Alice Sue Whitworth, age 78, died Friday March 24, 2017 peacefully at home. Born in Cleveland County on October 27, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Horace Monroe and Alice Edna Russ Bowen. Alice formerly worked at Sackville Mill retired from Ester Mill. She liked to go fishing and going to yard sales with her family. In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by a son, Howard Whitworth; 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

Alice is survived by two sons, Jimmy Whitworth and wife Wanda of Shelby and Dwayne Whitworth and wife Laura of Shelby; a daughter, Lynn Whitworth Ellison and husband Richard of Shelby; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her beloved canine companion, "Tessie".

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Robert Mote officiating. Burial will follow at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
