Alive After Five Celebrates 20 Years
Ocean Boulevard Band performs on June 26th
After 20 years of music and fun in Uptown Shelby, it’s time to celebrate! This year, Uptown Shelby Association plans to bring a few changes to make the concert series bigger and better. They will emphasis the 20 year celebration as well as renaming the event “Shelby Alive”. The time change will be 6-9pm, to allow more time for people to get there and enjoy the music. The bands chosen this year play a variety of music and they have great reputations through out the region. These bands are sure to make everyone want to get up and dance! Larger concerts will be held once a month from May thru August on the fourth, Thursday of each month.
The Shelby Alive concert series presents Satisfaction on May 22nd. Imagine The Rolling Stones coming to town! Well... almost... let's just say the next best thing to "The World's Greatest Rock-n-Roll Band" is the international highly acclaimed production entitled "Satisfaction... a Rolling Stones Experience".
Over forty years of classic hits are performed with the energy of an actual Stones concert performance. The show also includes an acoustic set of popular hits such as "Angie" & "Wild Horses". Lead vocalist, Chris LeGrand, who portrays the flamboyant Jagger role states "this show appeals to Stone's fans of the past and present". "All the big hits are here" he adds. "Honky Tonk Women", "Start Me Up" and of course the band's signature classic "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" will be heard.
In 2005, Satisfaction became the first Rolling Stones show to debut on the Las Vegas strip. As part of the world renowned show, "Legends in Concert", the group was honored with outstanding reviews in their six month run. Las Vegas Today proclaims: "They shined just like the real Stones". The Las Vegas Sun writes "They have you in the aisles like Jumping Jack Flash".
Other dates and bands include: Ocean Blvd. Band will perform beach music and more, on June 26th. Liquid Pleasure will perform Motown, R&B Beach, and Hip Hop on July 24th and 20 Ride, a Zack Brown Tribute Band will perform on August 28th.
The 20th annual series in Uptown Shelby gets underway at 6:00 and continues on until 9:00pm on Washington Street. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, and dancing is always encouraged.
Food vendors will be present, as well as the Uptown restaurants being open. A Kids Zone for creativity and fun for children is provided by Shelby Savings Bank for every concert.
