Alma Jean Little Camp
Mrs. Alma Jean Little Camp, 58, of 147 Mill Rd. Cherryville, NC departed this life on Sunday, July, 29, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, NC.  She was born on August 23, 1953 in Gaston County to Gladiola Ijames Little and the late Avery R. Little.

Mrs. Camp was a member of Macedonia Baptist church where she served over the years as a deaconess, kitchen helper, choir member and on the pastor’s aide committee.  Her employment included working at Howell Mill in Cherryville and Carolina Mills in Lincolnton, NC.  Among her favorite pastimes were decorating and keeping things clean but, her greatest thrill was watching her son Lance play college football at Elon University.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest James “Buck” Little and two sisters, Priscilla Mills and Edith Little.

Left to cherish precious memories of her, her husband of 36 years, Howard James Camp; her son, Lance Howard Camp (fiancé, Octavia Monay Odum) of Cherryville; her mother, Gladiola Little of Cherryville; three brothers, Buford Little of Crouse, NC, Eric Little (Wyette) of Gastonia, NC and Alvin Little of Cherryville; five sisters, Judy Little of Hickory, NC, Linda Geter (Nathan) of Waco, NC, Denise Wilfong of Shelby, Mechelle Derr (Laphonza) of Lincolnton and Sherry Little of Cherryville; two god-daughters, Michelle Lee of Cherryville and Andrea Hopper of Kings Mountain; an aunt, Sarah Robinson (Vernon) of Shelby; six additional sisters-in-law, Prophetess Shirley Sweezy Brooks (Apostle Eugene Brooks), Delores Sweeezy Borders (Albert) of Shelby, NC, Mary Sweezy Poston (Kenneth) of Cherryville, Yvonne Sweezy of Shelby, Debra Dicks (Charles) of Cleveland, OH and LaShaunda Hogue-Simmons (Michael) also of Cleveland and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 4:30 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church in Waco, NC with Rev. Joe Wilson, Jr. officiating and Rev. Les Howard delivering the eulogy.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 4:30 PM at the church on Thursday.
